17.   Multiplying and dividing by powers of 10.  Calculate mentally.

a)  154 × 10 = 1,540   b)  154 × 100 = 15,400
 
c)  154 × 1000 = 154,000   d)   27 × 10 = 270
 
e)  27 × 100 = 2,700   f)  27 × 1000 = 27,000
 
g)  380 × 10 = 3,800   h)  380 ÷ 10  = 38
 
i)  52,000 × 100 = 5,200,000   j)  52,000 ÷ 100 = 520
 
k)  140,000 × 1000 = 140,000,000   l)  140,000 ÷ 1000 = 140
 
m)  8,400 × 10,000 = 84,000,000   n)  8,400 ÷ 10 = 840

18.   a)  $450 = 10 × $45

18   b)  $2,700 = 100 × $27  

18.   c)  $56,000 = 1000 × $56

19.   512 is 512 ones.   How much are 512 tens?  5,120

19.   512 hundreds?  51,200  512 thousands  512,000

20.   a)  30 tens = 300 = 3 hundreds

20.   b)  30 hundreds = 3000 = 3 thousands

20.   c)  30 hundreds = 3000 = 300 tens

20.   d)  30 thousands = 30,000 = 300 hundreds

21.   a)  If a number ends in a 0, then it is divisible by 10.

21.   b)  If a number ends in two 0's, then it is divisible by 100.

21.   c)  If a number ends in three 0's, then it is divisible by 1000.

22.   Reduce to lowest terms.
