15.  In our system of numbering, what is the function of 0?

0 signifies that the unit at that position is absent. 0 holds the place

16.  0's on the right of a decimal, or on the left of a whole number, do not add
16.  anything to the value.

16.  Therefore, rewrite each number and eliminate the unnecessary zeros.

16.   a)   3.2000 = 3.2         b)   0006.8 = 6.8

16.   c)   5007 = No 0's may be omitted!

16.   d)   009 = 9             e)   .009  No 0's may be omitted!

16.   f)   00.09 = .09

16.   g)   8000 = No 0's may be omitted!           h)   8.000 = 8

16.   i)   305.002 = No 0's may be omitted!

16.   j)   0201.00010 = 201.0001

17.  Rewrite each of the following with three decimal places.  Do not
17.  change the value.

17.   a)  12 = 12.000           b)   285 = 285.000        c)   1.2 = 1.200

17.   d)   .08 = .080            e)   0.5 = 0.500            f)   3.120000 = 3.120

18.   Comparing decimals.  Arrange these from smallest to largest.

.1499  .2  .203  .23

19.   a)  Which number is the smallest:  .0059   .0201  .018 ?  .0059

19.   b)  Which is the largest?  .0201

20.  Which number is largest:   6.4   6.388   6.41 ?  6.41

21.  Which number is largest:   0.001   0.00102   0.0011 ?  0.0011

22.  Which number is smallest:   .0631   .063   .2   .063

23.  Which is larger:  7.32  or  7.320 ?  They are the same!
